Re: Tagless Model 5 (How to find info?)

This looks to be a very early Federal Enterprises era Model 5 (single phase as well), especially as it does not have any holes cut in the stator top to attach coding gear. When you look on the shroud for a motor tag, also look for another large badge that says “Fedelcode” or “Federal”, as if it has...

Re: Schaumburg ACA P-50 Came Down Today…

It's amazing how far sirens have come in innovation. It takes far less power to run a T-135DC than that old P-50.

I wouldn't mind having a P-50 in my back yard though - I could get a big enough genset to run it =D

Re: My privately owned Coded Super-Banshee 115.

Very nice restoration! I saw a video of one of these units on YouTube the other day. I had no idea they were a thing until then.

Re: 1917 Denver Quadruplex siren restoration thread

Thanks for sharing your progress! That bolt in the last pic looks pretty gnarly! For heating up frozen fasteners, a tool I'd like to get is an electric induction coil that wraps around a nut or bolt hex. I read about it in a Hagerty news article. It would beat burning up everything else around the f...

Re: How heavy is the fedelcode model 5 by chance

If I did it again I would've brought an engine crane with me to lift it into the back of the truck. That would've saved us some effort! One of the 2-ton Harbor Freight cranes boomed all the way out would do the trick.

Re: How heavy is the fedelcode model 5 by chance

Are Fedelcode and FS Model 5s the same thing? If so, my Model 5 weighs around 300 lbs and needed four adults to lift it into the back of a pick-up.

Re: How does the chopper work in a VXS-1000P Siren?

I'm not familiar with these sirens. Perhaps it's a freewheel mechanism like what's used on bicycles?

Re: Tagless Model 5 (How to find info?)

Yes, the motor tag is the one that's missing. Is your shroud tag on the inside or outside? There is a tag located on the shroud with some number on it. I can't remember the exact location, maybe at the bottom of the shroud judging from the picture I have, but on mine I could make out some electrica...
