Re: What do these letters at the end of thunderbolt mean?

I think A and B have to do with the type of motor (1-phase vs 3-phase?)

And T denotes dual tone. So Thunderbolt 1000 is single tone and Thunderbolt 1000T is dual tone. The 1003 doesn't need the T because it only comes in dual tone.

Re: 7.2 earthquake triggers tsunami warning in Alaska

Sure sounds like Modulators. Of course, that is going by the sound, which is the Federal Signal UltraVoice (UV) controller. So it could be any electronic siren hooked up to a UV, but Modulator is most likely.

Re: A siren explodes during testing

On most keyboards, the E key is right next to the W key. I'm 99% certain W.D. Bullard was a typo.

Here’s a photo.
I saw some of those as well, it looks great despite being 68ish years old
There's a possibility that it might've been refurbished before in its lifetime. Then again, it's probably shielded from the sun by all the trees.

Re: T-128 AC And dc and ac/dc and generations

The logo has nothing to do with whether the siren has an AC-only, DC-only, or AC/DC configuration. The logo simply tells us how old the siren is: The blue rectangular logo was used from the 90s to the mid-2000s. The circular logo with the three arrows was used from the late-2000s to the mid-2010s. T...

Re: dual tone ASC OM-117 ?

Definitely an OM-117. Can't tell if it's dual tone or single tone because of the sub-par image quality.

Did ACA ever make mechanical controllers?
I guess at some point they probably did, but I personally haven't seen one yet.

Re: ACA / ASC siren controllers evolution

You can not judge what is inside based on the style of enclosure. We have seen CompuLert 3 boards inside the "Version 1" style box. The "Version 1" style box is actually CompuLert 2. Noted. Did that style of enclosure come with CompuLert 3 factory-installed, or were they upgrade...

Re: ACA / ASC siren controllers evolution

This is the ACA-ASC Compulert 2 controller/decoder, released sometime in the early 1980s (1982 perhaps?) and used up until the late 90s. ACA-ASC Compulert 1.png This is basically the Compulert version of the RDT/TTS controller....it does all the same siren-controlling functions but is able to funct...

Re: ACA / ASC siren controllers evolution

Second up, here's the ACA-ASC RDT/TTS controller/decoder: ACA-ASC RDT-TTS.png This predates Compulert by about a decade (or two?), but continued to be manufactured years after Compulert was first introduced. I believe this used two-tone activation and was the cheaper alternative to Compulert, but d...
