Re: Dutch Flat, CA - What is this?

Still the wrong dimensions and doesn't remotely resemble anything ASC besides the horns. Which again, there are 6 horns on this siren meaning it can't be a Tempest.

It is an STL-10 with custom horns, below a fire bell, which is extremely cool to see
It has 6 horns and is far too small to be a STL.

Re: The Ferry building Heath siren

The Tribune Tower siren did have horns originally, they were later removed. I guess I was wrong then, but why remove the horns? Also, I contacted the ferry building about the 1000, but I'm not sure if they're going to reply properly or they won't activate it. Only time will tell, and If they do giv...

Re: The Ferry building Heath siren

It would definitely be nice to revive the tradition of a noon blast siren at the tower. Since the Bolt is so well preserved, I'm sure it would be relatively easy to get running again. It'd carry a lot further than any ATI could.

Re: Federal signal model 7t tag

That's not particularly unusual. Federal didn't always add the "T" to the tag on dual tone sirens, especially on earlier units. It's something they started doing most commonly on later FS&S and FS units.

Re: What siren models do you find to be overrated/underappreciated?

I find B&M to be heavily underappreciated. The unique curved rotor vanes their sirens use give them insane performance for their size due to their high efficiency, as well as being built almost entirely with their own fabricated parts to ensure high quality. According to other enthusiasts who I'...

Re: Technical Question: Port Ratios

Ah right, that's interesting thanks. When you say that "this will only work with rotors that are half-ported", what do you mean? It means the rotor has half the port count of the stator. So like in the examples I mentioned, 6 port rotors inside of 12 port stators, or 8/10 rotors inside of...

Re: Technical Question: Port Ratios

B&M did this with several of their sirens, by using half-ported rotors. For example, their 15-H-2 and 15-H-4 came with 12 port stators, and 6 port rotors, while their 20-AR-7 came with 16/20 port stators, and 8/10 port rotors. This resulted in heavy undertones, as well as significantly increased...

Re: federal signal model 2 chopper size

The 2 and 2T use the same diameter rotors/stators.
