Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

As I have already mentioned several times in this thread, Whitaker Elementary School is slated to be demolished very soon, and now, I can tell you that it will begin over these next few weeks, as there is now a fence along the front of the property. During this time, people are sharing various memor...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I just saw a few news stories posted about Hamilton’s former city building, here’s a link to one below. Could this potentially mean removal of the HOR? Someone should try to find out! https://www.journal-news.com/news/downtown-hamilton-hotel-project-gets-6-million-tax-credit/II7HMEJUQNALZKJ3T5GO2GXX...

I saw that Warren County is growl testing their sirens throughout the day today. Were there certain issues last night?

Tornado Warning Sirens in Hamilton County, Ohio 5/7/24

I know I'm not very active in the siren community anymore, but I thought I would take this opportunity to record my first time hearing the sirens at my new house! I just moved out of my parents' house and now live independently, but still in the same neighborhood. So a tornado warning was issued ton...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Well, tornado warning that includes part of Hamilton County tonight… and it was very interesting, several minutes after the warning was issued before any sirens were activated, and it sounds like they were all being activated in phases! I heard several distant sirens before any near me went off, and...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

A couple years back, I shared a blurry 1950s photo of the Whitaker with the Thunderbolt visible back when it used to have a long stand pipe. Well somebody shared with me this yearbook cover with different photos of the building under construction when major renovations were done in the late 90s, and...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

While the Thunderbolt on this building was removed over 10 years ago, I just thought I would let you all know that Whitaker Elementary School is scheduled to begin demolition in May. Right now, the expectation is that a new residential development will likely be built on the property.

Re: Thunderbolt 1000 and 1000T

Officially, there is not a way to tell the difference without hearing them. If my memory serves me correctly, they have tags that will indicate "1000" or "1000T" depending on what they were originally built as, but a lot of Thunderbolts have had their choppers replaced at some po...
