Re: Should New Orleans,Louisiana get Tornado Sirens?

The Fedelcode 5 is on a power plant.

New Orleans never had a full T-Bolt system. They had 83 Model 2 and 2T sirens and 2 T-Bolts.

Most of the 2s and 2Ts were left after abandonment, but many were lost in Katrina.

Re: Located another T-Bolt in Houston, TX

When I was last in Houston in 2009, 17 of the original 35 Thunderbolts were still up.

Re: Carter vs. Secomak Type 447

I have a Secomak I got about 10 years ago. The gear noise is almost as loud as the siren itself. There is a tolerance of around 1/4" which means it essentially is just leaking air. It makes a siren noise and the damper in front does create a pulsed signal of sorts, but by no means loud.......th...

Re: Siren Chopper "Chop Chop" Demonstration

Back in my not-so-smart days, I did a finger spin on a 10V that was lying on the ground. The dumb way. Meaning I tangentially pushed on the rotor via a port. The shock from the finger tip dangling off sideways made the pain disappear. The 5 hour drive (I wasn't driving) was not fun. The worst was th...

Re: Federal Signal Equinox 9-4-14

This siren has 8 ports. Look straight on when the projector is facing the camera. A normal 2001-130 has 12 ports.

Re: Question for the acoutic engineers

The difference in frequency in Hertz between the 2 sound sources will be the frequency of the pulses. If one rotor is doing 499 Hz and the other is doing 501 Hz, then there will be 2 'pulses' per second. Once you get above a certain range, the pulses become somewhat indiscernible as other harmonics ...

1964 Civil Defense Matching Funds Siren List "The List"

I just suspended hen7713's account. The use of direct racially offensive terms is not allowed here. It is up to one of the moderators to decide what to do. Again, there was a time when no memes (internet images of cats, celebrities with a quote, etc.) were not allowed and I think it made the board m...

New Years Eve 5T and 1003

New Years sound off of the 5T on 120 volts and then the 1003 on chopper setting 1. Sorry for it being off-centered, I recorded it with my iPhone on the ground.
