2015 Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill - 2 videos

Tue Mar 17, 2015 8:33 pm

This morning at 9:45 AM, the 2015 Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill began. And of course, that means siren tests galore...

Video #1 is a Modulator 1004 at Thomas Nelson Community College's Historic Triangle Campus in Lightfoot. It seems the standard Federal Westminster Chimes weren't to their liking...and interestingly enough, they use pulse as their emergency signal.

Video #2 is an ambiance from my house. You can hear two Whelens from Christopher Newport University and a 10V from the Jefferson Lab run their tests. Interestingly CNU did two cycles of their tornado warning sequence this year - last year they did only one. Perhaps this was a response to the fact that not one student I saw even seemed to be paying attention to the sirens last year.

Enjoy!
Don't wait. Take a siren photo today.

Proud owner of a frozen Model A, a Darley Champion "L", an Ademco 12V beehive, a few horns, a brass whistle and several old weather radios that sound like sirens. Those last three count, right?
