Bloomington, MN Thunderbolt 1000T

Since I'm on Spring Break, I decided to head down to Bloomington to record their Thunderbolt 1000T. This siren is located behind Normandale Village strip mall off 98th Street and Normandale Boulevard. Enjoy!

I love that silver Thunderbolt behind Lunds. That's been there for many years. My mom used to take me out there. She'd go to Loehmann's, a woman's clothing store in that mall, and I'd goof around elsewhere. I was always afraid that siren was going to go off while I was standing outside. I think that siren's still there.

I have recently been doing some Data Practices Act Requests about sirens in Minnesota and heard this back from Bloomington about that siren:

The only siren that Bloomington has that meets your criteria is the siren at 5233 Normandale Highlands Drive, behind Lunds. This is a Federal Thunderbolt mechanical siren on top of a 85’ cell tower. I am not sure what year we procured this unit (1978 I believe) but it was remounted on top of the cell tower in 1994. All of the rest of the sirens are new model Federal sirens.

Heck yeah! That's the closest Tbolt to me since the Lakeville ones were removed. I'm happy Bloomington still has one siren from their old system sounding off
