Decided to go out today to record the Madison County siren test, so I met-up with MadisonCountySirens at this Thunderbeam on the north side of Huntsville. This siren was recorded by Gametrain when he was on a trip down here in the summer of 2018, but seeing as the remaining Thunderbeams in the county are due to be replaced as they fail, I figured I might as well go up here and hear this siren before it inevitably kicks the bucket.
Thankfully, the siren still sounds quite healthy, especially the bearings, which allowed the siren to wind-down for a good 2+ minutes straight. Hopefully this means that this guy at least will still be around for a good long while yet.
The county was about 2 minutes late in testing due to their clock being about 2 minutes behind. Either way, it was certainly great getting to be able to hear the third and final Thunderbeam left in the county in person.
The siren's original "Thunderbeam" sticker can also be seen on the side of the siren as well, above the cage.
Madison County, AL tests on the 1st Wednesday of every month at noon, weather permitting. If the test isn't able to be conducted on the 1st Wednesday, it's then delayed to the 2nd Wednesday of the month at noon, weather permitting.
