Two vintage photos from St. Louis County, MO

Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:53 pm

I was going through an old box of photos this morning and found these two vintage photos from St. Louis County, MO (circa 1997). This is one of their Whelen WS-2000Rs. While there's no shortage of photos of these sirens thanks to the Siren Archive, its still fun to get to share them with you.

Thanks. I had no idea I even still had them. Haha. Consider it a surprise.

Yeah. I have no idea why given how simple they were but for a 115 db rotating siren they were unbelievably punchy. I'm guessing they were so short lived because there wasn't much demand for a 115 db rotating siren but St. Louis County had a ton of them before they put the 2910s in.

I always found 2000Rs to be interesting sirens, probably because of the low production numbers or how obscure they are compared to other Whelens anymore.
