While reading the "Best Nuclear Siren" topic the Trojan power plant was brought up which got me interested in the old system and I came upon this article about the old system. I thought I would share this because I think that some of you may find it interesting as I did.

Very informative article. Thank you for posting this! At first, I didn't know that there were 191 sirens in the original system, but I knew that the sirens that remain in Cowlitz county today were declared surplus. I will have to look deeper into the Oregon side of the Trojan EPZ.

Awesome!!!! The ones that are in longview can be bought. I have (or had) a copy of the pge transfer. Its cool considering it officially says: these items are now longviews'. Considering that only a VERY small portion remains and it already seems like it would be an epic ambience... what would the original sound like? You know?
EDIT: Yea you know why they were declared surplus? Because of me. Hours of back and forth between PGE and longview and I finally got a copy of the paper from PGE, sent it to them and they said "Okay we will have a meeting about it" and once they did they sent me the details of that meeting and that was that. Unfortunately the reason I didn't buy one was because I didn't have the $200 at the time and also by the time that one came down I already had mine from Waldport. However... Last I heard from nancy of public works... there were 2 buyers who finally took the 2 that came down.
EDIT AGAIN: Thank you for posting that FS!!!! Was a good read!

Most were Thunderbolts, Model 2's and 5's, and STH-10's, plus at least one Allertor.

Do you know any of the former/current locations of the sirens? Other than the ones in Longview, Kelso, and Kalama?

I think I found the allertor... But idk... Saint helens apparently had one that did a noon blast for a while there. Ranier I guess had a few. I will let Daniel elaborate more but I recall him saying there were a couple of bolts at a fire station and a few little guys around here in oregon.

I’m assuming all those dots are siren locations?

I know I'm kinda reviving this thread, but I found this pdf with 186 of Trojan's sirens, with MORE detail. What I mean by that is that it has the siren's number, the db @100 ft, and if the siren rotates or not. You will find this on pg. 125.

https://inis.iaea.org/collection/NCLCol ... 046491.pdf

Now to the main point, scroll all the way down to page 116. You're going to have to play connect 4 with the 6 maps and place them to get the full map like me. 2a and 2b are great for the siren locations in Longview and Kelso!

I got most of Trojan's sirens mapped out. I plan on getting the map out by the end of this month. I had no idea how old this map is, but it truly seems to get the job done... hopefully.
