For the 3V8 you are right single tones are louder (in terms of Decibels). I meant louder as in the multiple tones stand out more and I should have clarified that. The 3V8 is 107DB while the 2T22 is 113 according to this thread.viewtopic.php?t=12527. Perhaps it's something with the motor?

Anyway about dual siren setups, I recently found that on one end of the Daniel Carter Beard bridge (or the big Mac bridge) is an ASC E class near Yeatmans cove, the stadium and Sawyer point park.On the the other end of the bridge is a Campbell county pole mounted modulator better viewed from the street running under the bridge. They're part of different systems being on different sides of the river. I haven't been out much since my journey to Massie township but I noticed it on the way to my grandparents to deliver masks. (I 3D printed a couple)

On the Ohio side by the E class is a thunderbolt on the roof a building. Doubt it's still active as it never rotates but you never know.

The 3v8 is also much smaller.

Here's some twin whelen 4004s at tempetown lake because reasons. No idea why they're painted in the CSX Pumpkin scheme they put on their old trackwork only engines.

As of Google Earth they're still there. Wonder what signals they give.

Quote was messed up for some reason
2T22 is louder being dual tone and having horns.

I've also seen sirens for nuclear plants and storm sirens next to each other, but I can't think of any examples.

I'm going to have to correct you. It's actually proven that single tone sirens are louder than dual tone, and the 3V8 in Galva does have horns. I don't know exactly why single tone is louder than dual tone, but I'm sure some of our experts can tell you.

And about the twin siren setups for nuclear plants, I can think of a few for the Susquehanna plant, and for the Ginna plant, they have a few strange setups of
Penetrators with select fire station sirens like so:

Sorry to get slightly off-topic here, but as for the volume of single vs. dual tone sirens- it all has to do with physics. When you superimpose two different wave frequencies, it can cause what is known as destructive interference. Basically, the waves cancel each other out due to having different amplitudes and frequencies, which causes the sound to be quieter and not travel as far. A single tone siren doesn't have another frequency to compete with, so its sound travels further. There are, of course, many other factors that affect the volume (horn shape, height of siren, motor horsepower, etc.) but all else equal, a single tone siren will always be louder than a dual tone one. I'm sure someone else could explain it better than I just did, but hopefully that makes sense!

What is the point of that? The arrays are both facing the same way.

Not exactly sure.

maybe they are for different uses?

Well, after research, these are indeed part of the same system, and there are more than two of these setups.

Getting back on topic, doesn't Shandon OH still have a Fernald 1212 and a Federal Electric type B 10 ft from each other? At last report the Type B was sounded for testing rather than the 1212, (which had cut wires).

I'm going to welding school in harrison so it's not too far of a drive from there. But class is at 12 so either I show up after class or skip. And I'm not skipping.
