Is this a Sentry 3v8h, or short horn 7v8?

Sat Apr 13, 2019 1:46 am

To be honest, I don't know a lot about Sentry sirens. This find was a complete accident. I saw it in a news broadcast in Center Hill Dam (north Dekalb County, TN) from 2013 on News Channel 5 (WTVF). Can someone tell me whether this is a 3v8h, or short horned 7v8? Since I am adding it to my recent siren map, (which you should totally check out!), I want it to be correct.

That appears to be a 3V8-H judging by the size.

What exactly is the difference between a 3v8-H and a 7v8? I have trouble telling them apart

The 3V8H is 5HP when the 7V8H is 7.5HP it is also slightly larger in size and sound output due to this, both sirens sound the same.
