Analog Whelen WPS-3016 & WPS-4004 Rotation Thingy

I have been posting quite a lot of Whelen related things but this one is the last one for a little bit. So recently I noticed a little something about the ESC-864 Analog controller. Not only does it have effect on the pitch settings or the overall loudness of the siren, but it also seems to do something to the rotation sequence of the siren. An example would be one of Canal Winchester's analog 4004's doing first cycle. It rotates counterclockwise until it stops, not landing on the point it switches directions. It does second cycle, but instead of rotating counterclockwise like it was before, it rotates clockwise. Is this something that anyone else has noticed?

The way most of Franklin County's units are set up, especially on older controllers, they start at the 'home' position, and when the first alert cycle is activated, the duration of the cycle is about the same time as the rotator takes to move to the 'home' position again. When the next signal is activated, it rotates the other direction back to 'home'.

Whelen sirens have limit switches in the rotator assembly. The siren will typically rotate in the last direction that it was rotating until it reaches the limit switch and then will reverse direction. This is the common way they operate. They do NOT rotate in a single direction the way a Thunderbolt does. A thunderbolt uses slip rings to run the chopper motor. It can deal with dirt and non-continuous power going to the chopper motor. Actual audio would pop be full of static if it were run across slip rings so there are wires that go up through the head and connect the drivers to the cabinet below.
