I found an article this morning detailing the 2009 installation of Saginaw, Michigan's well-known current siren system consisting of 2001-130s. The article, however, specified that the new sirens would not be capable of transmitting voice messages. Curious, I hopped on Google Earth and used historical view to look at the current locations for old systems remains. As it turns out, the old siren system consisted of Whelen WS-3000s that were pretty low mounted and installed in the '80s, meaning they most likely used the 'Puyallup and Fort Wayne' Pre-ESC864 controllers, and were replaced in 2009 with the current system. There were a few older sirens as well, such as Model 5s, and a Thunderbolt 1003 that was replaced with a FedSig 508 in 2013.

Now i'm on the hunt for more information. The article specified that the installers upgraded technology on several locations, however the only known sirens are 2001-130s and 508s. There may be some Whelen WS-3000s hiding somewhere with UltraVoice controllers. Stay tuned

The 1003 was actually in Standish. It was removed in Early 2013 and replaced by a 508.

Not even close. Standish, Michigan is 44 miles away from Saginaw. The 1003 I referenced was in Carrolton Township, Michigan.

Wikipedia listed in 2014 that a 1003 existed in Standish. I can't find it anywhere on Google Maps.

All of the 3016s are gone, what they mean by “upgrading technology at several locations” is that they put the new 130s directly where the 3016s were, and then added a few new locations. Carrollton twp had 2 1003s and a 3T22 before they got the 508s. Ryan’s Mid Mich map shows everything current
