Coming soon: Operating Fedelcode 5 with dampener in operation

Thu Mar 01, 2018 7:46 am

Finally after 20 years of searching and working I will have the 1939-40 Fedelcode 5 working with the proper code wheel controller. In the next several weeks I will be posting a video of it in action complete with the original dampener. Boy what a search it has been for the code wheel box. The restoration of the siren and Alarm room of the old fire station is coming along nicely.

It will be used for demonstration purposes at the Historic Wendover Airfield which was the training base for the 509th Composite Group that trained with the B-29's under then, Col. Paul W. Tibbits who drooped the first Atomic Bombs.

That's awesome! Do you have any photos of the Fedelcode Model 5 and controller?

It is actually pretty easy. When posting a reply there is a tab down below which says "Upload attachment". Just click that and you should be able to upload the photos of the siren.

This is amazing! I remember when there was a coded 5 doing Grey Warning a few years back. Is your unit a 12 port or 8 port?

Great Video. Thanks for sharing it. I can't remember how many ports it has on it but I will check next time I am on the roof of the fire station. I think the codes are going to be faster than this one in the video. It will be interesting to see how it all works out. The motor that drives the dampener is fresh and ready to go. The dampener and bearing is in good shape as well as the drive mechanism. I will post more pictures soon.

Is this the Fedelcode to which you are referring? I think I remember you sharing this video a little while back:

Now this is neat. I happen to live just west of Salt Lake City. Its really cool to see that Fedelcode finally getting restored/repaired. It would be really cool to see it in operation!

Well hopefully some day you will hear it in person. It is part of the restoration of the Historic Wendover Airfield. Looking at your you tube video I think you would enjoy the restored Working Alarm Room in the old fire station complete with 40's era ADT Box Alarm, ADT Aero heat detectors, Ringdown phone from the Flight Tower, the Base Fire Phone system and the crash horns and bells. This is all a living fire station Museum experience. Oh and let's not forget the Fedelcode Siren.
