Interesting ASC T-112 modification

Tue Apr 14, 2020 1:18 pm

I just thought this HAD to be shared, but first, there’s a story:

Atop the Satmar Shul in Brooklyn, NY, there is an ASC T-112 that alerts Orthodox Jews for Shabbat. But, it is inconveniently located right next to the windows of a residential building. Residents have complained about the noise, so they did this:

There’s a news article about it and everything.

At first, I thought it was some sort of crown decoration.

Lol they added some horns that face upward. Pretty interesting find!

That was a good solution and hopefully it's effective and better for the community now. I do have to question the purpose of running it for 90 seconds though, I'd think 30 would be plenty.
Architecture preservationist. I enjoy obscure history and mapping things, and grew up around sirens. Not planning to own one.

I wonder what it sounds like with those pipes on it.
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.

I think having the pipes face upwards may become a problem eventually, as water can easily make its way down to the chopper...
