It's still gonna get better, believe it or not.
Anyway, I found some possible siren locations (I didn't find the "unknown sirens" article)
There are at least 2 articles covering this, but there was a store called "Matsuzakaya" which had 2 music sirens, one on the Nagoya branch building and the other on the Shizuoka store. I can't find any pictures of that exact location, but I can almost guarantee that the sirens were YAMAHA music sirens because they were both installed in 1952, coincidentally right as the music sirens gained popularity.

Now that I think about it, the Uwajima siren couldn't just have the speaker array next to it for no reason.
I think that the siren failed, like all the other sirens, and the city couldn't do anything about it because Yamaha ceased repairs and production. The city recorded the siren for the last time and uploaded it to the speakers to play.
However, previous videos go against my claim, as they show the siren working in fine condition. What I DO find unusual in these videos, especially of the close-up videos of the siren, you don't hear the background noise of the rotors in operation.

There is also a speaker array next to the music siren which it seems a lot of people online have mistaken it as the music siren.

I though the same thing as you before I had the photos of the inside of the wooden box where the music siren is. I did extensive research before making this claim that it was still active. The music siren is indeed in operation and has not been replaced by the speaker array. The speaker array is used with a system called J-Alert (Japan's Emergency Alert System and Siren System) which is a system of Public Address speakers setup across the nation. They are used for Public Address incase of a missing child or elder, natural disaster or just about anything that has to do with public health and safety. They are also the sirens that were in the background of those videos when North Korea launched a missile over Japan that landed in the pacific (an example can be found in the beginning of this video here).

Some of these Public Address speaker have been setup with chimes (an example can be found in this video here). Though what makes me sure of the music siren still being in operation is that fact that there is no clipping or distortion to the audio and there is no hi-cut to the audio (which would happen with speakers like these). You can also notice differences in the winddown time and when the winddown starts after the song has completed. This was one thing I had a lot of info about but didn't include in the article. I might actually rewrite the article someday to make it better with all this new information and stuff I didn't haver time to add. Possibly this summer when school is out.

As for the J-Alert sirens, I actually have plans to research them too. I know about the communications protocol between the sirens and the government which would make for a very interesting read. Again, possibly this summer I will research and write an article about that.

EDIT: Also, its not mounted by the music siren for no reason. Remember, music sirens took the place of WW2 sirens. The J-Alert siren just took place over the WW2 siren most likely. This also has to do with the surrounding elevation.

I've been away from this forum for a long time, but coming back to see a topic regarding the musical sirens was worth the quick stop by. I remember watching a video several years ago of one of the musical sirens, and I had simply assumed it was a one-off machine in some Japanese town. No idea that there were many, many more and someone would be able to go deep into detail with how they worked. Fantastic thread!
Owner of no sirens currently, but is looking to purchase and restore sirens for communities needing them.

Yes, I understand that, and I also heard about the speakers around Japan.
What I do not understand is that after each cycle of the siren, there is DTMF right after?
See an example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qf_FvraqaY
Also, never heard of the J-Alert System. The closest thing I've heard to the J-Alert system were the Disaster Prevention radios.

Also about the Wikipedia article, the title does not match any Wikipedia articles. If you want the updated version, I've looked on this page numerous times: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%9F ... C%E3%83%B3

And this thread keeps getting more better and better! Just check what I found:

https://oisca.hamazo.tv/e7337478.html
https://hyakujyu.hamazo.tv/e5899746.html

Pretty interesting if you ask me, They both look like a newspaper issue and a manual for the music siren. There's also a clearer image of the manual front page, but when I click on the link it gives me a 403 forbidden connection error. Found these off google images while just searching "motor siren" in Japanese, Here's the photo that gave me a 403 forbidden connection error if anyone is wondering: https://imgur.com/a/S6Nba1i (Sorry, do not know how to link images with Imgur just yet.)
Some guy who is interested in Taiwan's siren system as well for a few others,

Have I heard a siren? Yes, The Darley 3V8 In Columbia, CA Doing a noon blast. Do I own a siren? Sort of, A Vixen Horns Hand Crank Siren.

Evan actually sent me that photo too.
Unfortunately, just a manual, but maybe it reveals some locations.
I can't lie, I've been looking more into Rampton's sirens. I'm not sure what other Japanese terms could be used to reference these sirens, but I would assume "music siren" would be the best and most common term. Musical siren could be a second, but I wouldn't expect these sirens to pop up for "Motor siren".
Very interesting find.

Thanks, I remember just searching up "motor siren" in Japanese so I can get a better and closer look at the mechanical sirens that japan uses, heck while searching I also found the company who made those "turbo" sirens. I remember just looking at a image of a old Japanese/Chinese carter type siren (it was huge!) and scrolling down to the related images section and finding the images of the manual and the news issue, Also I don't know how I didn't even bother posting this here but a few months ago I found a good, clear quality audio of the Marumitsu Department Store's music siren going off for "homeway"? Here's the link:
