Is this possibly the most severely leaning siren ever??

Fri Apr 09, 2021 2:21 am

A few months ago, a fellow YouTuber told me about this siren and when I saw this, I thought "Could this possibly be the most severely leaning siren in the world?"

Take a look. The lean is so bad, the siren is leaning at about a 45 degree angle and it literally looks like it could fall any day. It wasn't like that when I saw it on the old street view, and I don't know how it is now. Either it fell, it was removed, or it was fixed, who knows. Also, this siren is a GCS Model 3 (which is inactive) that is located on Lee Road in Mineral Wells, Texas. (Here's some cool info: Mineral Wells has a particularly rare Weltex siren!) What do you think?

I cried.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

That gives me physical pain. What even happened to it to make it lean like that?

It is either because something hit it, like a car or the dirt wasn't holding up, which caused the pole to keep tipping down like that.

I know, it's sad to think about a siren looking like this.

That is one of the WORST-leaning sirens I have EVER seen. The fact that it's at a 45-ish degree angle most likely means something hit the pole. That poor GCS though. Looking at the 2013 streetview it was leaning a different direction, but not as severely. Sucks to see that just randomly fall after years.

Yeah, you would think that if the siren is leaning more than 5 degrees left or right it would cause premature failure of the motor bearings.

Yes, it is. I'm sure something hit the siren. My dad thought the foundation of where the pole stands is loose or whatever the word is.

Probably. I bet the rotor would rub the stator while spinning if it was tilted slightly more.
