Hi all,

I was doing some siren mapping around Australia, and I came across this:

Comparing it to photos of the one found in the UK, and after talking to numerous people, we've concluded it's the second Klaxon SS6 in Existence.

The location for this is 26°32'52.7"S 148°11'16.3"E

Now someone needs to find out if this is active, maybe even claim it and transform it into a 95 somehow.

Most fire stations deactivated their sirens after seeing pagers as a better replacement for the sirens, some rural fire services still have sirens and we’re not too sure if amby’s SS6 got replaced by pagers. Most fire stations keep their sirens as backup if pagers malfunctioned on rare cases. The siren could possibly be still in place, i’ll have to check the streetview date. But for now i’m gonna say it’s possible it’s still active since it hasn’t been removed yet. Btw i’m not saying this to confirm but to give it a guess

EDIT: last streetview was in 2014

That's the plan, I've sent some emails out, to see whether it's in use. I have a suspicion it's not because theres a newer station next door to the building the siren is on, and as Ben said, pagers replaced sirens here. If it's inactive, I'll be trying to get it. If I manage to get it, a full restoration will be carried out (and documented of course) and I may end up making a top shroud for it.

Now, I must clear up a misconception.
This is NOT "the Klaxon version of the Sentry 95".
Klaxon agreed to ship some of their sirens to ACA for resale in the US. ACA did the same with klaxon, some various things like Cyclones and Hurricanes were shipped to Klaxon (heard a lot went to East Africa, which explains ACA sirens in Australia.)
The SS6's were resold under the name "Sentry 95" and given a rain shield protecting the intake atop the siren.
The Sentry 95 was originally Klaxon's creation.

I know, but most people don't know that so I was trying to keep it simple for everyone to understand. People only seem to care about USA sirens on here, there is little place for Australian models, or even English models on here.
