What does it mean when a siren is coded?

Fri Oct 15, 2021 12:56 pm

Ever since I've found a coded siren on a siren map, I've been wondering what it means for a siren to be coded. If anyone knows the difference between a normal siren and coded siren, please share the answer.

Anyone correct me if I am mistaken, but I'm sure it means when said siren can do another signal it was never intended to do. For example, coded Banshees are capable of doing pulse, a signal they were never intended to do on their own.

coded sirens are ordinary sirens with one of 2 things. either a solenoid that controls a valve that cuts airflow to the chopper or from the chopper(federal signal 3t22, thunderbolt 1003, klaxon CS-8, coded P-15?) or a brake on the motor (some sterlings, various other models).

some of them have a valve controlled by the spinning of the chopper that repeatedly mechanically opens and closes when the siren is running. this was only employed on smaller sirens. specifically the yamaha music siren uses coding dampers to play musical tones.
