I don't know who's getting Clough Pike, but I'll be there either next month or July... I'd like to hear that one before I go off to college. I'm not even positive that it'll sound due to ongoing construction at the school.

That's interesting... wonder what happened there? I ended up going out to Amelia, it was a bit of a letdown, but still not all bad. I don't think the prototype EOWS-1212 sounded (I was .4 miles away and couldn't hear it), and my original recording location didn't end up working out, so I got a lot of car noise in my video... The 4/5 on Jenny Lind still seems to have bearing problems when it starts, but it sounded good after that. If there weren't so many cars, it would've been heavenly.

I was going to go today but decided to go to the one off Tealtown Rd because of the construction at the school.

Apparently, Hamilton County did a growl test at noon today. Did anyone hear it? I didn’t hear anything from inside the house, but I saw Facebook posts afterwards from the EMA and Springfield Township that said this:

“ As part of regular, ongoing maintenance to the Outdoor Warning Siren System, Hamilton County EMHSA will conduct a brief, 10-second sounding of the sirens today, May 13th at noon.”
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

Wondering if this has something to do with the downtown zone failing the monthly test?

I was driving down Beechmont Ave. today and just so happened to go by the Anderson Fire Station #5 at noon. I really wanted to see if the thunderbolt is deactivated now or if just the rotator is broken, but neither the thunderbolt or T-128 were going off... I could hear distant T-128's (probably 8 mile and clough/ Forest and 8 mile) which would be in the same zone (5), so it must be a problem with the siren, not the zone. I probably should email the EMA about it in case they don't already know. This is the 2nd time this year...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens Walton STH-10 Restored

Thu Jun 04, 2020 1:35 pm

Stumbled across something I didn't think I would see in Boone County. I drove by Walton's newer station they moved into and saw a brand new looking STH-10 sitting right next to the station.

It all looks very new, like hadn't been there that long so later that day I went to the old fire house (now the public works building) where the STH they had there still resided.

So yeah it seems that (and sadly I'm not the 1st to know this :P) they took the siren down from the old firehouse, restored it (or at least repainted it) and reinstalled it at the new fire station and apparently they are going to add it to the system soon. That's pretty neat! If I am not mistaken that would be STH #3 active in the county? Or perhaps it'll only be #2 and I am mistaken. It's really cool to see them take that siren and take care of it and put it to use. I am pretty sure I have pictures of the old installation somewhere but I can't find them.
Now pictures. Old Street View

That is a very nice looking installation! Glad to see a fire department move and take their siren with them instead of scrapping it or leaving it to rot.

The Thunderbolt that used to be on top of the of the old Cheviot fire station was sold to a collector and is now in their hands.
