There are some videos on YouTube of some of St. Paul's sirens, and in the video descriptions, it will say where exactly the sirens are located.

There is that one on the Macalester stadium, and another 1000 on the horticulture building in the fairgrounds. That's all I know about!

What's the audible range on the Thunderbolt 1000's? I'll be goin' to school (hopefully) at St Thomas, and the MacAlester siren is a little over a mile away, and all the others are over two miles away (unless there are more in the general area not on the list - it seems that the whole area is void of sirens).

You should be able to hear them, it all depends on the surrounding buildings, etc, but if anything you should be able to hear them slightly.

I should be able to shed some light on the St. Paul system since I live fairly close to there.

As some of you probably know (but I'll say something just in case) St. Paul has almost all Thunderbolt 1000's as their system. I am not sure how many total sirens St. Paul has, but they have alot. St. Paul also has several model 2's, and one Thunderbeam (as in the youtube video).

As mentioned earlier, there are thunderbolt 1000's on top of Macalester stadium, at the fairgrounds, and some of the others that you see on youtube. Most of these videos were recorded by another guy who lives in Minneapolis, but some have been recorded by others.

In addition to the sirens mentioned, I can provide three additional locations:

* A thunderbolt 1000 on top of Homecroft Community Center in St. Paul in the Highland Park neighborhood

* A thunderbolt 1000 pole mounted just to the side of interstate 94 in St. Paul. I'm not sure of the definite location, but I've seen this siren before.

* A thunderbolt 1000 on top of the Hamm Building in Downtown St. Paul.

St. Paul may be willing to release some additional siren locations if someone emails their Fire Department.

Well - I fired off an e-mail to the Ramsey County Director of Emergency Management inquiring about a map or a list of sirens in the county, specifically St Paul, so we'll see where this gets us.

It looks like St Paul is looking at replacing their system of Thunderbolts. Has anyone heard about this? Any more info?

I doubt that St. Paul is going to replace soon. I'd think that it would be at least a few years of paperwork and negotiation for the grants to come though.
