Astoria, Oregon Thunderbolt?

So, my last topic about this seems to have mysteriously disappeared without notification, so I am making a new one. I have heard of the possibility that there may be a Thunderbolt in Astoria, Oregon. There are other posts about this on the board, but none are newer than 2015. Apparently, the siren was removed from the OSU in Corvallis after someone set it off as a prank for the first time in 20 years, and was then given to either Astoria, Warrenton or Hammond. Some posts mention the harbor near the Astoria-Megler Bridge, but I have checked the street view all around it and nothing. An article about the siren mentioned it being stored in the Hammond Fire station, and another post recommended checking Fort Stevens, however there is nothing there on street view. On the street view of the Warrenton police and fire station, there are people working on the roof(possibly preparing it for a siren?), but if it is there then it is not visible on aerial view. If this siren exists, it is very likely it could be the only active Thunderbolt in Oregon, or at least the only one that tests regularly. Hopefully someone on the board has some new information about it.

Maybe you could go on a field visit? Instead of asking other people to fetch information for you, you could possibly get someone to drive you around and check it out yourself. If the siren isn't there, it isn't there. No biggie.

I’m not asking anyone to go there, I’m just wondering if anyone would happen to know anything about this siren, as I am working on a map of Oregon sirens.

I have a great feeling that Warrenton received the Thunderbolt. Generally looking the geography and everything, Warrenton is basically the central zone for Hammond and Astoria.

Now fast-forwards to 2018. In that year, 2018, Warrenton received 6 Whelen sirens from a decommissioned military site and used them to replace their "old system." This basically means that the Thunderbolt likely no-longer exists.

You could try to attempt to locate it but it seems like it would waste too much of your time.

P.S. The only known Thunderbolt's that still exist today in Oregon were those from the decommissioned Trojan Nuclear Power Plant which you've mapped.

I’ve looked for it for years. An old friend of mine (who lied to me a couple of times so I’m taking it with a grain of salt...) said that she saw it. As for active thunderbolts in Oregon, the clatskanie fire district has a couple...

Thanks, that helps a lot, knowing that I’ve been looking for siren that doesn’t exist for the past month kinda hurts. Any idea where the Whelens might be? Have they even been installed yet?

Oh that was a quick response! The Whelen's should be within the city. The article doesn't talk where exactly. Article linked below!

I know, I have it set up so I get an Email every time, and I use Bluetooth headphones that have volume issues so it blasts my eardrums out. I’ll start looking for those Whelens, Thanks!
