Sirens in New York?

Wed Oct 06, 2021 1:07 pm

Hi, I'm decently new to this and want to find some active sirens that test in my area. I've already video'd the Whelen in Ardsley, New York. If possible, I'd like to hear if there are any active testing sirens in southern New York. Thanks in advance.

Let me think- I recently called Mamaroneck about their Whelen and despite hearing it in October 2020, the claim it's been inactive for 10 years. Rye has two Whelen 3 cells but idk if they are active. New Roc has an inactive Bolt, but it's sky blue and a real cool thing to take photos of. Can you provide a link to your Ardsley video? I should video that siren soon.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

Thanks for the info! I’ll check out the blue Thunderbolt, sounds cool. Here’s the Ardsley Whelen, sorry if it’s cut off a bit. https://youtu.be/vRIHldlMH1M They also do noon blasts everyday, even on the weekends, so it’s really easy to catch.

Epic! I'll try to stop by during the weekend (I can't drive so my mom or dad will have to drive me) I'm so excited to finally have another siren enthusiast near me in Westchester County! I have a few more cool siren locations I can give you, I'll send them through PM. SUNY Purchase has 2 WAVES sirens but I am unsure of when they test.

I just spent the past three days in Mamaroneck. I did not hear the Whelen at all (or any siren for that matter).
