Is it possible to recreate an EOWS Siratone controller?

Thu Jan 31, 2019 11:45 am

I'm thinking of building one myself, but haven't found component lists or schematics yet.

ThunderMasterMind has a component list, but it lacks a schematic. Basically impossible without a schematic, unless you have a degree in electronic engineering. A good alternative is building one of these, originally designed by Nick Oakman.

And also, a timer.

The first one doesn't sound very much like an EOWS, but the timer video sure has a good sound.

There is one in the EOWS Series manual. It is figure 7-4. There is also an X-ray diagram of the board too! https://www.scribd.com/doc/77830979/EOW ... 612-Manual

There is a problem to building a replica though, given that TI doesn't make some of the ICs anymore, so finding some of them could be hard, but not impossible

It might not, but it incredibly close to being a Whelen-esque controller, and besides, it's still analogue.

Which IC's do they not manufacture anymore?

Triangle wave generators I think. There might be more.

What about generators of other waveforms? Can those be used?

If you can make it electrically work with other things, then yes.
