So I recently picked up an old speaker from a thrift barn and have had trouble identifying it. I think its a PA speaker from the University Speakers company is there any info on this company?

Did a Google search and found some info. But the only products I can find info about seem to be household stereo speakers.

I think I know what you're talking about--University Sound. I remember a video made by Canadian YouTuber Garret Claridge in which he found an old burned University Sound PA speaker abandoned in a forest. They seem to have been around for quite some time, since I see some of their products listed as "vintage". They were a division of Altec Lansing Corporation, but new information seems to suggest that Electro-Voice acquired the brand name.

I went to an antique show awhile back and noticed some on the fairground/racetrack. They had decent voice clarity for their age.

Any info on if this brand still is actively sold, or where to get parts or support for it?

Can't be sure, but I think they were bought up by a bigger company.

Here's something I found on the old Control booth forums

The University Loudspeaker Company was formed in New York in 1936 and was going by University Sound in 1959 when it, along with Altec Lansing, were acquired by Ling Electronics (LTV). In 1963 University moved to Oklahoma where in 1983 it was joined by the Altec Lansing production when Altec closed their Anaheim plant.

Here's the link to the forum itself.

Hope that answers your question.

University Sound was acquired by Gulton Industries, which also acquired Electro-Voice in 1967, so both brands became part of the same company between 1967 and 1984 when Gulton was acquired by Mark IV Industries. In 2001, Electro-Voice was merged with Telex by the private capital company that acquired Mark IV, and today they are owned by Bosch. The University Sound brand was also applied to products from the Electro-Voice catalog, such as column speakers and paging horns.
