Campus Alert system..

Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:39 pm

Check out the TV story re: North Carolina State University in Raleigh:

http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?secti ... id=5994256

This one is from Sept. 2007:
http://www.wral.com/news/local/video/1870631/

They call it "Wolfalert"

Looks very much like ATI, if my eyes aren't too bad. Can't report yet how many there are around campus. 30,000 people on the campus (students, faculty, etc.) in downtown Raleigh.

I've seen some Federal MOD speaker arrays at UNC-Chapel Hill, also. They were supposed to have a test this past Monday, March 17th, but postponed due to memorial service on Tuesday for the murdered president of the student body.

I don't think the should of used ATI. They should have chose a Whelen or a Modulator.

Do you know the locations of the ATIs, and when they test? I'm going to try to get film a video of the system.

As a matter of fact (it's been a while since this thread was touched) I do.

I now work on the campus.

Locations of WolfAlert sirens that I have seen:

-Poe Hall; all 4 sides of the roof.
-Reynolds Coliseum, a 4-fer on a pole on the roof.
-100 William Moore Drive, Vet School Campus, (35°47'59.7"N, 78°42'13.6"W; 35.799913, -78.703782)
-Off of Ligon Drive, West Campus near Materials Warehouse (35°47'22.8"N 78°41'59.2"W; 35.789659, -78.699778)
-Varsity Drive, next to Wake County EMS Station: (35°46'50.3"N 78°41'01.3"W; 35.780634, -78.683685)
-On top of Bowen Residence hall, one on each face, just like Poe Hall.

That's all I've found so far. I've only been here since November.

Edit: They just did a test this past Monday, July 6, a around noon. So maybe 1st Monday of each month? I've heard a few others but didn't notice the exact day/date/time.

Alright. Thank you!

Edit: What signal do they run? What frequency? I live near the campus, so I may be able to get a video.
Another Edit: I do remember driving by the EMS Station ATI a few months ago. Are they actually ATI or E-Classes?

ATI. The wires hanging out are a dead giveaway. Any updates on that test?

I think I missed hearing the test on Nov. 2, in that I either wasn't paying attention for it, or I was not any where near where I could hear it.
