Police Car Lightbars

Sat May 20, 2006 1:59 am

My friend and I were disputing on which lightbar was better. Below are links to the manufacturers' descriptions...

XF2300: http://www.code3pse.com/productdtl.asp? ... d=1&id=279
(My opinion: no, this is too heavy-duty looking for a police application. But it is good for other applications...)

Galaxy:

(My opinion: yes, this is a sleek lightbar that was built strictly for police use.)

The Galaxy by far is the best for Police application. The other one is just too big for a normal cruiser and would make it look entirely ugly.

Yeah, I personally like the Galaxy better. On the Code-3's site, you can backtrack and check out some of their other designs. They have one similar to the Galaxy on there (LED2500 or something...) if you would like to check it out.

Maybe you could get them some stuff, loudmouth (no insult intended).
This lightbar looks pretty neat for that kind of application: http://www.whelen.com/details_prod.php? ... rod_id=276#
(You need IE6 to change the color.)

I personally have done a good amount of research in police car equipment, I ran the Second Life Police Department (online game, http://www.secondlife.com ) for a few months and created a few really life-like lightbars (even some rotating ones).

I love the Code 3: It looks like something out of RoboCop.

Yeah, but it just isn't for police work. Its more of an industrial-grade lightbar...

We have some vehicles with new clear low profile LED lightbars in my city. I think they the Code 3 X 2100.

Being that they are clear and very short, you can hardly tell it's a cop car following you until the cop switches the lights on.
