New Hampshire Diaphone?

Sun Aug 26, 2018 11:13 pm

So I live on the seacoast of NH, and I always hear a diaphone going off every few months. I know that Hampton Galls FD used to have one, but I didn’t hear anything on the scanner when it went off right now. Does anyone know what it could be?

Seems like they did use the old way of sounding diaphones; get to the valve, open and shut it, instead of an automated, radio or 1-push system.

Hmmm. The only set of horns I know of in that area that *may* be active are the ones at the Seabrook FD. I heard somewhere that they sound every day at 12:30. You're right, the ones in Hampton and Hampton Falls are inactive, but keep in mind that you may not hear tones on your scanner if the horns are on a timer.
