Ritzville, Wa city sirens. (FS 12-port 5A, 9-port ED Bullard)

Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:02 pm

Hello everyone. Long time siren enthusiast here. I don't have much history on these two beauties yet. They both sound at noon every day with a 5 second blast. I have lived here for close to 30 years and not once has either siren failed. Controllers have failed twice in that time. Both failures signaled the sirens into a 3 minute alert for the noon whistle. The ED Bullard on top of the decommissioned water tower was refurbished sometime in the mid to late 90's. I remember seeing an article in the local paper. Ritzville also had a third siren on top of the old city hall. I found only one picture with a quick search on Google. I believe it was a Sterling M10. I'm in the process of finding someone with knowledge of what happened to the siren when it was removed during a remodel around 2002.

Sorry for the bad recording...

A thunderstorm rolled over town Sunday morning. A lightning strike triggered the Fire attack signal.
The noon siren test was disabled the following two days, but have since been reactivated.
Enjoy!!

Looks like they may have took the top part of the water tower and put it over the chopper, maybe? It also looks like the Model 5A has a newer power switch. Makes me happy they take very good care of these sirens. :D
Your not so professional siren enthusiast.

Both sirens were tended to in the mid-late 90's. I also found out the city did have a Sterling M-10, and nobody seems to know what happened to it after it was taken down.

Looks like my motorcycle and I have a destination to go see... I’ll have to listen again but that Sirodrone sounds like it’s actually got 8 ports? Maybe it is a 9 though.
Own and love a Thunderbolt 1000 and a Model 5.

I have many hobbies and interests. And I love them all.

I think a lot of people would thank you!! I don't have the proper equipment to record the awesomeness of these two sirens.

I really don't think the nine-port thing is a Siro Drone. If anything, it may be one of those old Westinghouse sirens that was speculated upon here many eons ago. https://www.airraidsirens.net/forums/vi ... hp?t=14376 Regardless, it's nice to see more of these floating around.

We already know what siren it is. It was made by a company called Weltex out in California. There's more information on the Siren Enthusiasts group on Facebook and possibly on here as well
