I know that there's still a Thunderbeam near the U of M agriculture building in St Paul. There's also a modulator not too far from it.
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.

It was replaced by a 508 about a week ago.

ThunderBEAM bro. I thought someone said the university was gonna run the elevator shaft thunderbolt to the ground?

Scratch that, I was wrong on the location of the Thunderbeamer. It's actually in Falcon Heights. Is this the one that was replaced?

Thanks for the mini-heart attack. A 508 is one heck of an upgrade compared to a Thunderbeam.

I know there is a picture on the JMarcoz Siren Achive site of the Allertor mounted atop the 2112 Broadway building in Northeast Minneapolis. But does anyone know of any other pictures of this one? I used to drive by it all the time. It was removed in about 2006. No one ever mentions this siren. It was also very low mounted.

I forgot to add that the Allertor in northeast Minneapolis was older, with the shorter intake horn. But I never heard it go off. I know the Allertor on top of Floyd Olson Middle School was an 8/12. I was wondering if the NE Mpls Allertor was the same. If anyone knows.

I remember seeing that Allertor back in 1996!! I remember how ridiculously low it was to the sidewalk in front of the building! My 1st thought was "Crap, I'd hate to be walking by when 'THAT" went off!!" LOL!!

I used to tape record sirens in the early 80s, when Thunderbolts and Allertors were abundant. I wish I would have taken more pictures back then. I used to drive by two different square-horned Hurricanes in Minnetonka and two different Soundmaster 125s in Plymouth. I had no way of knowing that all these great sirens would become relics of a bygone age.
