Rockwall, TX P-50 is no more :(

Tue May 19, 2020 4:45 am

I drove past the ACA P-50 location in Rockwall, TX today and noticed a shiny brand new ASC T-128 or 135. It must have been replaced sometime in late April or early May. Rumor is the P-50 had a dead motor and was scheduled to be replaced sometime this year. Would be awesome if someone could grab that old siren, chances are the installers took it with them to dispose it or it's at the city lot waiting to be scrapped. This leaves only 2 active P-50's left in DFW that I know of. 1 grey one in Seagoville, TX & 1 grey one in Grand Prairie, TX. :(

I can confirm that it died, I spoke directly with the emergency manager about it some time back, he confirmed that it suffered some kind of major failure and wasn't repairable. The new siren is a 135, apparently it isn't hooked in quite it. The 50 was already disposed of.
As for active units in the immediate metroplex, I know of four: Seagoville, Bedford, and two in Richland Hills (32.82116, -97.22729); (32.80429, -97.23014), which came from Euless in 2002 (https://www.newspapers.com/clip/48633513/). If there's still a P-50 in Grand Prairie, well, you know something I don't!

The one in Grand Prairie might be gone now. This was a few years ago.

Ah, well, that would explain it. All of Grand Prairie's are completely gone.

Indeed, 'twas a sad day when they were all gone. Some of the P-10s went off to small volunteer fire departments, such as Paradise, TX.
