Kansas-Missouri Siren Extravaganza 6-1-20 & 6-3-20

Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:58 pm

I went on a siren trip across Kansas and Missouri this week to film some neat sirens.

Monday, June 1st:
I went up to Topeka, KS to film this yellow 2001-DC on SE Paulen Road in Topeka. This siren ran for 3 minutes in attack since it was the first Monday. Sirens in Topeka and Shawnee County sound every Monday at noon for alert and on the first Monday for the attack signal. (weather permitting).

Wednesday, June 3rd:

For my first siren test of the day, I went to Louisburg to film this 2T22 located behind Miss B's cafe. This siren ran for 3 minutes in attack. Miami County recently changed the siren test time from the first Wednesday at 1 PM to the first Wednesday at 10 AM.

After Louisburg, I headed over back to Missouri to film this 435 Hz Whelen Vortex R4 in Peculiar, MO. This siren is located on the intersection of State route YY and Peek rd. Peculiar tests it's sirens on the First Wednesday at 11 AM (weather permitting).

For my 3rd and final video, I headed down to Rich Hill to film their 2001-130. The fire chief had to come to activate this siren manually due to it having radio issues. The fire chief was nice enough to let me see the controls of this siren and showed me around the fire station.
