What are the speakers on drawbridges for?

Thu Jun 16, 2022 4:23 pm

I’ve been looking at drawbridges for traffic lights and sirens, and a lot of them have speakers on them. What are they used for?
I have a thing for objects that light up or make noise.

Most of the time they sound for when the bridge moves
Like at the Fort Maddison Swing Bridge in Iowa, they have 2 Sentry F-2 that sounds when the bridge moves.
Hope that helps!

I've been under many drawbridges and not seen bells and speakers rather than just speakers;

Hello, fellow siren enthusiasts. I am losing interest, but will be back on the board from time to time.

I believe these are bridges that split in half and rotate around to make way for all kinds of boats that have to pass through. I'm assuming that's what you're looking at. They are used to notify/warn the public that the bridge is rotating or splitting in half to make way for tall boats to move through.
