After months of researching, remarking & revising, I have finally finished making a custom mobile-compatible siren map for Hawaiʻi! This map features technical details for each siren, including the type of antenna used, the controller it operates on, and whether it has battery backup. I have also marked future siren locations from siren planning documents and noted where sirens have been removed or destroyed by wildfire, lava, etc.
For those who might not be familiar with the abbreviations I used on my siren map, here's a quick overview.
Antenna Types:
• OMNI - Omnidirectional
• COL - Collinear Omnidirectional
• LP - Log Periodic
• Yagi XE - Yagi X-Element
Siren Warning Strobe Lights:
• QF - Quadraflare
Any feedback on the siren map is much appreciated! As it helps me develop better technical information descriptions & mapping styles.
Please note that some aspects of this siren map may not be entirely accurate, particularly regarding the installation years for older sirens.
With that, here's the siren map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing
