I met up with some other enthusiasts in Alabama to record sirens in the Montgomery area for the first Wednesday of the month. This area in Alabama is pretty neat in that multiple counties test at different times, and since a lot of the sirens are in driving distance in between each other for the first three tests you can actually get multiple recordings in one day. Elmore County tests at 9, Autauga County at 10, Lee & Macon Counties along with the bases at 12, and Montgomery County at 3:30. Elmore, Autauga, and Lee counties still have some cold war era sirens in service, but the majority of the sirens here span between 2001s, Whelens, and ATIs (bases). Macon County has at least one 508 and a single T-128 in addition to their 2001-SRNs. Those 508s and the T-128 are the only ones in this particular area of the state, with the only others being hours away. More information about these systems can be found in the video descriptions. I did record in Lee County, but the Modulator I and another enthusiast went to failed. I have not decided on where or not I want to upload the ambiance from that test.
