A cool siren I found in Saint-Louis-du-Ha!-Ha!

Fri Jan 17, 2025 8:51 pm

A search for this particular siren didn't show anything on the ARS board, so here's a FS Model 5, painted in a nice red colour on top of what looks to be a fire station! (I don't speak French).

On a mission to get myself a siren. Anything will do.

P.S. I've been diagnosed with a serious addiction to choccy milk.

This is actually a Thibault Type 5! Pierre Thibault, Ltd. was a company based out of Pierreville, QC that bought Model 5s from Federal Signal and put the cores in Thibault's own custom housing which was better suited for Canadian winters.

I don't mean to derail too much, but I would like to see a citation for them being rebranded Federals, if you can provide one.

Admittedly, it's speculation though I think there's good reason for it. The Thibaults seem to match Federal's thing where single phase units are usually taller than three phase units due to the motor being taller, and the diameter of the housing seems to match the C2 1/2 size units. I've seen Thibaults with both tall and short housings while mapping out Quebec. Federal also has a huge presence in Canada. I probably shouldn't have stated that as factual though, since we still don't have core pictures yet.

I understand, I hope we get to see inside one of them some day.
