Thanks for the info. It's a shame that 2001s are taking over the area. I never have understood why communities are so quick to choose those other than that many have older Federal sirens.

Next time I'm up that way, I'll have to hunt down those 2Ts and the other Thunderbeam in West Carrolton.

Better List of Sirens

Here's a better list of the sirens throughout the Greater Dayton Area:

Montgomery

Miamisburg: All 2001's (formally S-10 Screamers and Sentry's), except for an STH-10.

Moraine: 3 T-128's (used as spare sirens; aside from one near Possum Creek Farm), Model 5T, 2t22, and Thunderbolt 1000T

Kettering: RM-127's, P-15's

Centerville: Thunderbolt's, 2001's

Springboro: Model 7 (restored, no longer in use.), 2001's, Thunderbolt's (in the process of being replaced.)

Wright Patt Airforce Base: Whelen 2800's? (I don't know Whelen omni-directional sirens too well!)

Greene

Beavercreek: 2001's, several Thunderbolt's

Xenia: Several Whelen's, 2001's, 1 Thunderbolt (inactive)

Interesting that Moraine uses T-128s as spare sirens. This means they mainly use the older ones, and the T-128s in case any of the older ones won't work?
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

Re: Moraine Sirens

Yeah, the older Federal Signal sirens had problems after awhile, and instead of replacing them, they decided to install two (new) additional T-128 sirens to help cover the Thunderbolt and Model 5T in case they wouldn't activate. The other T-128 (as mentioned) is meant to cover the outskirts of town in the countryside.

What's odd, is that Moraine didn't upgrade the control panels for the older sirens, which explains why they installed back-up sirens! :?

I was in Xenia/Beavercreek yesterday and here's what I saw.

Xenia's TBolts (at least the ones I looked for) have been cut down. Only the 2001s that directly replaced them remain.

Jamestowns Eclipse8 is actually a silver STH10.

I also thought I read somewhere that Beavercreek has a TBolt at Rotary Park but I was unable to find it.
