Ahem... I have to put up with these every day. :D

Personally, I quite like them that way. The idea isn't for penetration as such, just to make it attention-seeking (much like the 2001-130, but it's more designed for distance/penetration) so you know it's coming and then get out of it's way before you get flattened.

My kind of siren signal would be wail and high-low combined. Just me though. It would be nice to see some highway patrol cars utilise that signal.

that's a fire truck in Melbourne, Victoria. They use the same type of siren as the Australian Capital Territory Fire Brigade uses on their trucks oh and A.C.T's trucks are yellow aswell.

They use the same signal here in New South and I think in Western Australia as well.

What brand and model of siren is this, and what does it look like close up?

I don't expect posters on YouTube to know everything about sirens or fire trucks, but it would be courteous to mention what city or country they're in. It's surprising how many don't do this. This siren has a very annoying pitch.

Its electronic so it looks like a speaker.
