Excuse me while I collect myself and pick my jaw up off the floor.

Is that the original engine still connected to the chopper/stator? Regardless, that Mobil Directo's an awesome find! Shame the horn's gone but at least the rest of it's still there.

It appears to be, this siren was gas powered throughout its entire use period and as far as I know, the engine was never replaced. Looking at the photos now, we are almost wondering if the horn simply rusted away, note the reddish debris in the opposite corner from the intake cone and the heavy rust on other parts of the siren. Regardless, the most important parts are still there!

You may want to see a doctor about that. All jokes aside, I fully understand as we were quite shocked to see it for the first time today. You would not believe how tense it was when the drone went up for the first time. The tension was so thick you could just about cut it with scissors. Needless to say when we saw a part of it appear on bobcat's phone, I recall letting out a prompt "Oh my god, there it is! We just made history gentlemen!" or something to that effect.

Another observation: The parts of the siren appear to have had their positions moved between today and on the 3D image posted by Someone22. I question as to why that may have occurred. Wind? Perhaps moving for some unknown reason?

I'm a bit skeptical, although considering how old that is, completely rusting away isn't exactly out of the question. It could've just been taken away by someone when it was dismantled but you never know.

Of course this does not merit any weight on the MD I feel, but last year another SD-10 was found that I forgot I took terrible phone photos of in February of 2020. This siren is off Lakewood Ave. by a house in the Polar Rock neighborhood

Must have felt amazing during the instant when the MD first showed on screen.

Well, it's been on that building since 1953, and disassembled and shoved into that corner for who knows how long. The city of Atlanta sold the stockade in 1983, so I assume it was around then when it got disassembled and tucked away into that corner.

So I found this in the AJC archives today. Taken on October 24, 1967 near 27th and Peachtree. You're going to want to look in the upper right corner.

And another treat for you all, I have this. This comes from the February 6, 1974 edition of the AJC featuring a close up of the Hurt Building siren.
