Syracuse siren hunt 7/28/13

We went to Syracuse because i heard they had a Civil Defense system of single tone T-bolts, but i could not find any. Thanks to my awesome grandmother, I was able to take some cool photos elsewhere.
- -The 2T22A is in Fayetteville, used by the fire Dept. Testing unknown, might be inactive.
-The thunderbolt 1000 is at Lyncourt FD. Testing is Monday at 6:00 PM.
-The Eclipse 8 has had 5 years of service. Replaced a Fedelcode 5 12 port 3 phase due to motor problems. Tests every Monday at 6:45 PM
-The STH-10A is at the Onondaga Reservation FD. Tests on Monday, 6:00 PM and I also heard it last night at 10:30ish.
-The Model 2 is at the South Onondaga FD, behind the old Fire barn and Grange house. Tests at 6:00 PM on Mondays.
-The Sterling K5 is behind the Lyncourt FD, on the old Syracuse China factory. Presumably inactive.

Eclipse 8's aren't three phase, they are DC like 2001's. I'm liking that 2T22 mount other than that!

My bad, the chief told me that. Maybe he was referring to the Fedelcode. Notice the lower intake on the 2T22A is pretty much blocked?

Yeah I saw that on one of them. It's not the only one like that though. Holliday, TX has one where the pole is inside the intake. Tecumseh has an STL-10 like that too, and they even cut some horns.

I wonder why they do that...? Anyway, I should be ale to get a recording tomorrow, I can't guarantee it. If anyone knows when the 2T22 tests, that would be a HUGE help.

To me, it seems rather unusual for fire departments to have regularly scheduled siren tests, other than having a noon whistle each day.

They test them to call in the volunteers for drills, which I think is pretty cool.

Isn't it a 2v8 or 3v8? I wasn't sure so I said mystery siren.

No, more like a K-series vertical Sterling, probably a K5.
