The Rock Thunderbolt 1000A

Tue Apr 08, 2014 12:58 am

Yep, that sucker is one sob  My first time hearing a 1000. Like I said with the one in Yatesville, these blow any siren I've heard out of the water. The sound and audio may be a hair out of sync because of some issues I had with my phone. Long story short, the b**** messed up my video, so I had to "recreate" it using Movie Maker. That really brought the video and audio out of sync, so YouTube editor time.

Description:
"Just because I'm sure YouTube wants me to say this...
I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)
Anyway, this is the 'bolt 1000A that was installed in The Rock, Ga last year. It replaced a STH-10 that wasn't loud enough to cover the area. I was actually there when the head went up, but because of school, tests, etc. I ended up waiting till spring break, which for me ended Friday, to hear and record the beast. This siren is very loud and threw a good punch, even from where I was set up. This was actually the first time I tried out the tripod I rigged up to hold phones and what have you. I had my iPhone 4 recording next to the pole, but the audio was messy from the mic being completely overloaded. I don't think Im going to upload that one. I also had my old Droid 2G set up behind the building farthest to the left recording audio like I did with the 1000AT in Yatesvile. The reverb from the environment was a bit too good, slightly maxing the mic out."

I will find a way to get the audio from this and the recording from Yatesville online some type of way. YouTube wont take audio files. Enough text, video time.

What I've always done with my audio files is just overlay the audio in WMM, and put a blank screen up for an intro and have it last the duration of the recording. Youtube will accept it that way.

Nice recording BTW!

Works fine here, though I'd suggest you use MP3 instead of WAV - saves space and helps with portability.

I've had problems with MP3 files losing audio quality during the conversion, but that was only on Audacity. Don't know if it was the compression or what.

Might have been the compression or just Audacity itself… I know when I recorded with it it really wasn't my favorite.

It was probably the compression. I've never had any problems exporting MP3 files on Audacity at high bit and sample rates.
