I have just bought a Faraday 6110b buzzer. The problem I have is how to run it. It runs on 7vac and is 1.5 amps. Would a 6vac power adapter work?

Try a 6-8 volt doorbell transformer.

Is this some kind of fire alarm?

The 596 is what I use to power my 6 and 12VAC horns. The 6 volt tap will work just fine to power it. An AC/DC adapter like the kind used to power most electronics will not work as it outputs DC not AC
