Also, this storm did actually spawn a tornado just south of a town called Kellerville. There was no tornado warning for Dallas county that I know of.

Moved from my other post:
Had this one come through Russell County yesterday. They confirmed it to be an EF1. I got some video of the sirens going of for the tornado warnings on the base and Columbus. All three counties blared their sirens for the storm. Yes they malfunctioned, but at least they ran alert and talked. Sirens heard from Ft. Benning are two WPS 2909s from Sand Hill equipped with ESC-2020 logic. First my video:

This is a video of the WPS 2810 during the warning located at Shelby and Commerce Streets. Maybe it's the mic, but it sounds much quieter than it did when I recorded. Siren is visible in the shot: (Not Mine)

Now for the good part. This video is from the Ft. Mitchell area as the tornado struck the area. They sounded the sirens off as the storm passed through. Sirens in the area this was shot include two 2001-130s and a Vortex. A little farther out you'll find one of the base's 2909s. The Vortex heard is the one I recorded, which was installed in 2014. It was in the path of the twister, so I'm eager to get down there to see hold it held up during the storm. I might do that later this week.

Some news articles.

Notice the Marco's Pizza? That Vortex heard in the video is just a few hundred feet away from the building.

No word on what kind of damage, if any, that happened in Ft. Benning. I might see if my grandfather will take me out to the air field to see how everything is, but if we do go I'm not taking any pictures to avoid and security issues.

I love how they sound running at 517 Hz. Sounds just like a T-128.

That tone they use on those ATIs gets me every time, I mean I just wouldn't be able to take those things seriously if we had those here.

*PEWWWWWWWWW!*

Wonder why they use the wavering "air-raid" tone instead of the steady ALERT tone?

It grabs attention better than alert in a lot of cases. The county I live in uses that tone for sever thunderstorms; I'm not to big a fan of it because on electronic sirens, except for ones from ASC, it sounds like a low pitched police siren unless you program in a custom tone. When the county sounded them like that back in November it shook a lot of people up, even though that part of the storm didn't carry a tornado into the county but rather to the east. They were not used to hearing them run like that for 2 minutes. It was the first time since the 2011 outbreak that Muscogee County used that tone.
