I don't remember the yard layout but here's a photo of North Fond Du Lac's STH-10 from 2009. I remember walking behind the actual rail yard to get this distant photo as the yard itself was off-limits to enthusiasts. If you're going to try and take closer photos, it might be a good idea to get permission from the rail yard's managers first. They are not keen about enthusiasts running around without permission.

That's me! Still got that piece of decal sealed in a ziplock bag hanging on my wall. Unfortunately that thunderbolt was removed this April unexpectedly and all that remains is a stump and blower pad. Eric Stokke was trying to find out the the units whereabouts but never got a response. SuperBanshee if you could give me any information regarding Eau Claires old system and or the surrounding area, that would be greatly appreciated.

There was no Thunderbeam in North Fond Du Lac's CN yard, only the old yellow STH-10. The two Thunderbeams were located at:

1. Sports field near Friendship Learning Center (since removed).
2. N. Pioneer Road near a truck stop (might still be there).
I am actually going to send you a PM regarding Eau Claire.

There were many Thunderbolts and 2/3T22s installed all over Wisconsin during the 1960s. 1963 was a particularly busy year as a mass of Federal Thunderbolts and 2/3T22s were installed across Eau Claire and Outagamie counties.
They were the most commonly ordered Civil Defense sirens during that time - most of these sirens survived until recent years. Here is a newspaper clipping detailing the old Eau Claire system. The washed out picture shows a 2T22.

Thank you! This article says every location I was looking for! I will do a virtual siren hunt tomorrow and will go investigating later this week. I'm surprised there is no mentioning of the Fairfax St thunderbolt though. I sent you a pm anyway. I know some information now but feel free to respond if you know anything else. Thanks! :)

That was after the AR timer/radio box on top disappeared mysteriously... It is too bad they removed the siren, but I suppose it didn't serve any purpose.

I know the box door kept coming off, not sure about the box going missing

Another quick question. in the OP, where is that thunderbolt site that still has the blower pad and pole at it in FDL?
24, and not dead yet.

It's on North Seymour Street near the Odyssey Salon.
