I would not be surprised if those were former Soviet S-28s and S-40s.

What an awful situation to have a siren recording from. I almost want to say whatever it is, it sounds like it could be 8/16 port.
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.

Your kidding me right????
Those people are being invaded and are being killed and YOU are discussing what the damn sirens sound like???

I realize this is NOT a political site, and that sort of stuff should not be discussed here.. But for Christs sake, try to be just a little respectful of the fact those sirens are being sounded to warn of being (I jut typed a very naughty word here that I could get banned for!!!) BOMBED and missile attacks. Not some weather warning.

I'm pretty sure he's well aware of the situation and how serious it is but I think there have been a good few people in the community that have wondered what they are (me included) and I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. People with an interest in a topic will wonder things if it pops up in the news somehow, and as long as he's not going on about how he hopes the sirens are okay first, then what's the harm?

The ones that sounds like the French sirens is likely to be a DS977 siren, also used in Hungary, Czech Republic, and possibly Russia.

I agree with this. It's like how I was wondering earlier today what aircraft the Ukrainian Air Force has available (MiG-29 Fulcrums, Su-27 Flankers, and Su-25 Frogfoots (Frogfeet?) in case anyone was wondering, with more MiG-29s being donated by other EU countries as I type this).

I don't see how this is different from a weather warning either. Both are dangerous situations where lives are at stake. In this case the danger is man-made.

I'm going to look up these sirens now. I'm not familiar with the Soviet units.

I have finally discovered what sirens Ukraine use!

Siren Models:
-DS977
-C40M
-DS PAKITA?
-PAVIAN Sirens

And I have collected some siren pictures from Ukraine:

Note: These are from Transcarpathia (I think this is how it is called) the Hungarian part of Ukraine.

Do people in Europe mount sirens on houses? Like personal residences? In Europe siren videos i.e. Switzerland some sirens appear to be mounted on homes.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.
