Hello, I purchased 2 Model D's about 3 years ago and was wondering how to get the rotor off of it since the previous owner painted the rotor and stator and basically painted everything else on it, any idea on how to get the rotor off?

If there isnt a way let me know :D

It's fairly simple. First, you want to remove the set screws which hold the chopper to the motor shaft. Next, you are going to want to tap the chopper off the shaft using a tap and a hammer. Put the tap on the shaft and tap on the tapper slowly. Also, try to use some oil on the shaft so the chopper slides off easily.

Is that why there's holes in the chopper where the shaft and the chopper meets? Or is it somewhere else

I’m so sorry for getting off topic, but does this apply to Federal Sign & Signal models too? I have a Model L that I’m going to restore and would like to know if this works.

get a steering wheel, or three jaw puller to pull the rotor if its real stuck, or grab 2 ladyslipers, and pry, then whack the shaft with a brass hammer
