Hello. No, I am not talking about Seattles CD System, or the modern day PCOWS System.
I am trying to find a bit of info on Tacomas old Air Raid System.
It would go off once a week, every week, in the 70s.
If I could find out what sirens there were, and where their location was, I would appreciate it.
Finding old photos of them (if possible) would be very appreciated.
The possible locations were 26th and Alder, somewhere on 6th Ave (Probably at Wright Park), 19th and Stevens, and possibly one near Bates Technical College. Id assume that the one near Bates was mounted on top of the city hall building.
I asked a neighbor if they knew anything (They are a little older, so I thought theyd know.), and he told me that there was one hed pass by downtown, it was (in his words) "Bright yellow. It said Lightningbolt on the side or something. It had a huge power box at the bottom." That leads me to believe that this siren in question was a Thunderbolt, and that "power box" was most likely a Blower.
My ELA Teacher told me that 19th and Alder is DEFINITELY a location, as he heard it all the time, and he lived over in that area.

Some info was gathered by this reddit post from a long time back: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tacoma/comment ... &context=3
