Complete siren controller audio library

Tue Oct 18, 2022 8:09 pm

I've been working on a library of all signals on all electronic siren controllers for the past couple of years and I've finally gotten it to a point where I'm comfortable sharing it with everyone. all of the recordings are taken from the non-amplified output of a controller or from a company website.

If you have any suggestions or questions please pm me!!!

these recordings are great for mini (or real) electronic sirens.

There is a 1 and a 3 minute long version of each signal.

here is the link to the library: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2/fold ... 8w98R0HCes
here is the tone chart: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

the library contains tone recordings for:

.siratone
.mc/mcp/ultravoice (still in progress)
.ESC-864 analog (currently synthesized. still in progress)
.ESC-864 digital
.ESC-2020 (all HZ levels)
.ESC-2030
.ACA Alertronic

and if anyone has an analog ESC-864 or a single-tone federal signal controller please reach out to me!!!

I woud shy away from taking tone recordings from company websites, as they typically are lower quality than what we would get directly from a controller, and some aren't even indicative of what an actual controller would sound like (with the exception of Whelen). But this is a fantastic idea!

Siren enthusiasts, it's time to bust out the bare-wire to 3.5mm audio cable and start recording your electronic siren controllers!

And, heads up, Whelen digital controllers have different signal timings depending on generation. It's not just the pitch of the tone that varies. I've taken a listen through some of the ESC-864 Digital, ESC-2020, and ESC-2030 tones in your tone library, and some of them sound...off. I would assume you took the 455 Hz ESC-2020 tones from the Whelen website and pitched them up or down depending on what peak frequency you needed- that approach would not be optimal. Each of Whelen's electronic siren controllers have their own little audible quirks and differences; I've trained my ear to the point where I can pretty accurately judge what controller a Whelen is running on strictly from how they sound. A 455 Hz ESC-2020 pitched up to 560 Hz would not equate to the signals natively running on an ESC-2030 or 560 Hz ESC-2020. Pitching the 455 Hz ESC-2020 down to 435 would work, because the SI-TEST glitch does exactly that- it shifts the frequencies of all tones down 30 Hz. Same goes for a 560 Hz ESC-2020 dropping down to 530 Hz- but we don't have any digital audio files of a 560 Hz ESC-2020 just yet.

With that said, I would suggest you label the ESC-864 Digital, 435 Hz ESC-2020, 560 Hz ESC-2020, 530 Hz ESC-2020, and ESC-2030 tone files as being placeholders. Until we start getting actual digitizations of those controllers.

Acutally, hold that thought. I'll need to do some deeper digging and side-by-side comparisons before I come to any conclusions. Keep up the good work! You're doing a service for the community.

The only audio from company websites are the single tone federal Signal tones and some whelen signals

The analog esc-864 is currently synthesized but siren 1000t is trying to record his for me

After some in-depth side-by-side comparisons in Audicity with a recording of a Whelen Vortex with an ESC-2030, I've come to the conclusion that the tones in your "whelen ESC-2030" folder are not genuine ESC-2030 tone recordings. The air horn tone is several pitches lower than that on an ESC-2030, the hi-lo, whoop, wail, alert, and attack tones have slightly different timing than that of an ESC-2030, and the pitches for several of the tones to not match up correctly.

All the whelen signals except alert are the same recording The alert signals are either synthesized or recorded

I’m getting an ESC-2030 with my vortex so I will have recordings from that soon

Understood, that clears everything right up. Thank you.

Something to note about the ESC-2020 and ESC-2030 controllers is that they will not wind down if the signal is cancelled by the button panel on the controller. If you don't have a Whelen encoder + radio and a radio + decoder in the controller, the only way to get the wind-down is if you let all the signals run for the full 3 minutes.

Additionally, I could supply you with a mostly accurate all signals synth of the Digital ESC-864 if you would like, as a placeholder.

If you use the remote button contacts you can have them wind down

I’m also getting all the radio activation equipment so I will be able to do the 1 minute signals that way

What is the desktop.ini thing for? Were you trying to make the control similar to your siratone and ultravoice?
