Did Ashland have sirens?

Thu Dec 29, 2022 5:27 am

I was in Ashland WI for a kind of summer vacation and saw a couple of these things scattered around the town, and they kind of seemed like they could have had sirens on them. I am just wondering if anyone has any further information about this city and or if they had sirens. Thanks.

that does look like it could have held up a siren at some point. it doesn't look like any siren poles i've ever seen, so i'm not sure what it could have been. cool find though

Yeah, at first glance it looked like there was a siren mounted like the ones in LA, as duckwaddledup said. But I could not get a good look at it because we were driving. I am going to try and find some more information. I'll let you all know if I find anything!

It would like a siren could be mounted on here, I have Google Earth Pro which I can travel back to old time and could if there was a siren on the pole before.

I went on google maps, and the pole thing was not there in 2008, because there was a tree there, and it was there in 2015, I am so confused, I might just call Ashland county Emergency Management!

I searched around town, and I found another. Based on where it's located, and checking old satellite imagery, I do not believe Ashland had sirens.

Yup, looks like Ashland does not have any sirens before, I don't know what the poles are, they could be some random poles or just displays have no idea.

Most likely a display. They are probably used for displaying festive items during the holidays. I have seen small towns in my area put snowflakes on the side of telephone poles during the holidays. The "cradle" is most likely used for electrical workers to set them up.
